Venus Takes Lead Over Sister, Serena Williams in a Bizarre Shakeover in WTA Rankings

Tennis stars Serena Williams and Venus Williams have achieved almost everything on the tennis court. The legendary sisters have both topped the ranking tables in their respective careers. However, both Serena and Venus have been away from the tennis court for a long time now. While Serena last played in the Wimbledon championship last year. Venus was last seen playing in August last year.

Serena suffered a hamstring pull while Venus cited leg injury as a reason for missing out on tennis action. Although, the sisters are in no mood to retire and have hinted at their respective comeback. But the long break from tennis has affected their rankings severely.

 

Serena falls to 1227th while Venus falls to 571st place in the fresh WTA rankings

In the latest announced WTA rankings, the Williams sisters saw a huge dip in their ranking points. As they keep falling in the ranks due to long absence from the tennis tours. Elder sister Venus has now recorded 571st position while Serena slipped to 1227th rank in the women’s tour.

In a recent decision, WTA stripped the Wimbledon of its ranking points. In the wake of banning Russian and Belarusian players from competing in this year’s Wimbledon championship. The decision has resulted in ranking point loss for top performers in the Grass court event. This move might have affected the rankings of both Serena and Venus. Coupled with their long absence from the court.

Venus Williams vs Serena Williams records

Venus and Serena trained together from an early age. The legendary sister duo learned the basics of tennis from their father, Richard Williams. with the time both turned out to become world-beaters. Playing together for a long time, they understand each other’s game very well. Although they are very close in personal life, the Williams sisters are equally fierce opponents on the tennis court. Whenever they face each other, they bring out their best and it always turns out to be a treat to watch for fans.

If we have a look at their records, Serena has won 23 Grand Slam titles while Venus has won 7 majors. Talking about their head-to-head record, the younger sister is leading with a score of 19-12.

Although Serena has definitely got better records Venus too is no less a legend as both of them have achieved a lot in their illustrious careers.
