Brock Lesnar: Shane McMahon’s clash with ‘The Beast’ over Royal Rumble booking led to WWE exit

Brock Lesnar and Shane McMahon clashed over the booking of the 2022 men’s WWE Royal Rumble match, a new report has claimed.

This week, several reputable sources have reported that Shane McMahon has left WWE, with his scheduled matches at Elimination Chamber and WrestleMania now being cancelled.

The decision to let McMahon go was made by his father Vince, with Shane reportedly “p*ssing everyone off” at the Royal Rumble last weekend with his booking demands.

It seems like we now know the identity of one of the people he annoyed at the Royal Rumble, and it’s none other than Brock Lesnar.

In the latest Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Dave Meltzer explains that Shane McMahon wanted to “build the match around himself” which annoyed several people.

Shane’s behaviour, according to the report, was so unprofessional that Vince McMahon was left with no choice but to “fire him”:

“He was brought back this year as well, but there were many complaints about how he wanted to build the match around himself and issues involving co-producer Jamie Noble.

“Every single story you’ve already heard, multiplied many times over,” was said by one person close to the situation.

“He was unprofessional the likes of which left Vince McMahon no options but to fire him.”

The report goes on to say that McMahon wanted to build the finish of the match around him, and even spoke down to other producers when they challenged his ideas:

“Others noted that he wanted to build the ending of the match around himself and be a featured player in the match, was visibly very unhappy when his match ideas were shot down by his father, and was not professional with Gibson and talked down to people.

The report explains that McMahon and Brock Lesnar clashed over the finishing sequence to the match, which has contributed to the chaos that was reportedly surrounding the match backstage:

“There were also disagreements regarding he and Lesnar regarding the closing stages of the match, and Lesnar pretty much does exactly what he wants. But this led to people being told one thing and then another, between Shane’s ideas, what Lesnar wanted, and what Vince wanted.”

Vince McMahon was stuck in the middle of things, but sided with Brock Lesnar over his son when it came to making the decisions about the finish to the match:

“It was constantly changing all day and Vince was overruling Shane on his ideas and also agreeing with Lesnar. About the only thing left in regarding him looking good was a spot where he would out-strike babyface and former UFC fighter Riddle.”

Shane McMahon’s departure from WWE has let to many of the plans that the company had for its top stars at WrestleMania changing
